What is Pick To Light?
Pick to light is order-fulfillment technology that uses alphanumeric displays and buttons at storage locations to guide pickers during the "picking" process. It also helps in keeping track what has been picked for that particular shipment.
Typically, in a pick to light system, the operator scans a barcode attached to a shipping carton or a tote. The pick to light system then displays the quantity to be fulfilled in the carton or tote. The illuminated LEDs guide the operator to the right storage location and indicate the number of items to be picked. The operator places the items in the container and confirms the pick, usually by pressing a button near the display. This process is iterated until all the items in the picking zone is completed.
Once complete, the illuminated LEDs displays "End" to indicate the completion of order. It is common to have faulty goods when picking, In such cases, where goods are short, then it is considered a short pick. In this case, the operator can reduce the quantity displayed to match the actual physical quantity picked.
